Tiff, I think I will be buying the smiley OPKs too! I read the reviews on them and they sound like they are much easier to read than reading LINES. UGH it was kind of frustrating!

Mandy and Tiff, I would recommend using the line OPK's until you get what is almost a positive and then using the smileys to confirm, otherwise it might cost you a fortune

thank you Kirsten, I am going to buy them for next month! I am so glad you told me about them. I read the reviews and they sound so much easier to use (and understand) than the two lines. Thank you again!

btw I would love to have yall as friends on FB! Although none of my friends or family knows we had a VR. So I dont talk about it there at all.
I feel like such a child for not telling anyone but I dont want all of the questions as to WHY or ARE YOU PG YET? I dont think I could handle it.

Mandy- I never got a smiley, but I did get a + line test. It turns out for me my surge is so short I have to hit it just right . I would use the line tests 4x a day to catch it, that is why I recommend using the lines and confirming with the smiley. Could you imagine 10 days of testing 2x a day with smileys?

First off, I do not want to offend anyone who loves the Your Baby Can Read program and I do not think anyone on this thread would do what I am about to share! Believe it or not, there are parents who actually plunk their kids in front of the tv with the YBCR program for hours a day! Don't get me wrong tv can be very helpful when preparing supper or other household tasks with a little one or two, 3...I am not a tv hater it has its uses! Anyway, we (at school) have had a few sets of parents who felt their child should skip pre-k because they could read a lot of words, pretty much any basal reader you give them. The problem is that although these kids have great word recognition, they have HORRIBLE comprehension and are lacking other essential reading skills. They have low prediction and communication skills. They also display deficiencies in interactive play, socializing, etc. When the parents were asked about the "program" they said the child watches the videos 3 hours a day (one family was more!). These are not low SES families either--educated parents. Unfortunately unless paired with common sense and responsible parenting this program is not any better than the baby einstein stuff (don't get me wrong the BE stuff was cute and often relaxing). I do think it is an excellent idea to teach young children sight words, about phonics and written language at an early age as it most certainly helps them to become better readers and avoid many struggles. I think many parents would have the same outcome with early (and better) readers if they just spent real learning time with their kids.
Sorry if that was a teacher soapbox moment!

LOL Carrie. I think it is the issue of the product is only as good as the user.
So my scare for the day was feeling like I was having a asthma attack all day, had been off and on for the past few days and I figured it was part of the side effect to the meds. Turns out that the meds are not recommended for someone with a history of asthma. So on to a new med. I also asked if I should not take the med for the day of testing (had read that somewhere) and was told that under no circumstances do I go off the med without the drs say so, that with my type of arrhythmia I have to be on something. :/

Yes. Really hoping maybe they can tell me something before I leave, but more than likely will have to wait, if I have to wait, then I am going to see about getting an earlier appointment since I think the reason for 2 months was to make sure we got all the testing done.

Dropped DH off at the airport at 5:30 am. He'll be spending the day with his grandmother and tomorrow morning VR it is! It will be a long 3 days while he's gone. C'mon Thursday night so I can pick him up and get him home!
Thanks for your input Carrie! I can see where your coming from with being an educator. The LO's that I watch are all under 3, so being able to incorporate this into our learning hour every morning will be nice. Not looking to move mountains with it, but if it gets them exposure to high frequency words/pictures why not. We watch 30 minutes of tv a day and that's only so I can get lunch ready. I agree with all you said and thanks again for hitting good points.

sportykids, I am so excited for you! My FIL drove my husband to his VR, 4 hours from our house. They left a day early and stayed the night. I was so nervous the whole time he was gone. I will be thinking of you!
BTW it is so nice to see yall as FB friends in your real lives! Also it's nice to be able to talk to all of you about the VR. I dont talk to anyone IRL about it. So thanks SO MUCH!

Kirsten - have you put TTC on hold since these new findings?? Do you know what the end result is going to be?
DB - I know! We are all real people right?? It's nice to see everyone on FB.
Carrie - good input, I've heard alot of the same things about it.
I'm off to the 2ww board:-)
