My husband and I are recently married, as of October 24th, and have been researching VR's. He had his V done in 2003, so it's been about 8 years. I'm really worried that we'll have the VR, and nothing will happen. 8 years sounds like such a long time to me! Any advice? I'm really looking forward to the 2 of us having at least one child together, if not more!

I really think this is hit and miss. They SAY the less time the better, but there are women who's DH had less then 3 yrs between and they are waiting for BFP's a yr later, and then there are women who's Dh's had 7+ yrs between and they get preg in the first 3 months.

Unfortunately I have heard both ways. I have heard that the time between V and VR does not matter at all and then other places says that the quicker you get your VR the better the odds. But I have actually seen ladies end up pregnant both ways too. Some DH's have been 10-20 yrs out and get quick BFP's. I have also seen couples struggle that V-VR's were only 1 yr apart. I do think it is hit or miss!

I agree with what's already been said, it really doesn't seem to matter. I have a friend whose DH had his VR after 17 years, and they managed to quickly get their BFP (followed by another after the birth of the first VR baby). My own DH had around 7 years between the V and VR, and we've been trying for almost 2 years now. There's just no way to know what the outcome is going to be. I do wish yo the best of luck though, and hope that after you get the VR done that you get a quick BFP!

My DH was only 3yr and 11m out and didn't even have sperm at the time of surgery which was a huge shocker cause this man was suuuper fertile before the v! I just don't understand why there was no sperm, the doctor said there was no blockage!

I'm going for my yearly physical in a few weeks, and will be about 8 -10 days into my cycle. I'm planning on asking her to run some labs on me and see where I stand fertility wise before we get started, since I'm 35 and my DH is 39. I have 2 children already, and had to take one cycle of clomid to get pregnant the first time. My bodies' always seemed to work fine since then. Has anyone else had their own fertility checked pre-VR?

My DH was 10.5 years out. I think it all depends on the couple, their makeup (how their bodies mesh together) and timing. My DH had whole sperm on both sides and lots of them. Let's just hope they know where to go!
We're still early out....and on #2 TTC.
GL!

Yes, I just had my pre-natal work up. It included a pelvic u/s and bloodwork.
If you've had an SA and you have swimmers, I would highly recommend getting checked out. KUP!

I just had my annual and I am having blood work done next Monday to see if things are working like they should be. I am pretty sure I am ovulating, but want to make sure I am good to go!

I did it because of my age. I will be 40 this year. Ugg.

I definately do not feel 39 at all. I feel 30 still. I'm pretty lucky not to have any wrinkles yet, but I have greys around my hairline. Eekkkk

Mandy...I am also 41. I did my fsh quite awhile ago and wanted to repeat it....my dr doesn't think that is necessary because my numbers were so good then. Also, I have a friend who is younger, and her fsh showed that she was probably in early menopause....she had a baby not too long ago, so even with those results, she got pg. Sometimes it is just nice to know what we are dealing with so we know what next step to take. Tiff....You will be a "40" year old Don't look like you will be 40 this year.
