We got our 3 month SA and it was bad. The dr told us that the only way we would get pregnant is through IVF and that I might as well stop temping. I am so sick of everything being like this, nothing working right.
Liquification- 1
Viscosity- 1
Volume 2.1 (>=2.0 mL)
Sperm Concentration 4.4 (>=20.0 million/mL)
Total Sperm Count 9.2 (>=40.0 million)
% motility 22
motile cell 1.0
% rapid 22
% moderate 0
% slow 0
% static 78
Prog Velocity 38.1 (>=25)
motilty grade 3.25 (>=2.5)
% norm morph 24 (>=30)
% abn morph 76
Dr. H said to take fertilaid for 3 months religiously and then we will do another SA. He said these are OK numbers for where we are and that the VR is technically a success.

Kirsten..So sorry, unfortunately I know how you feel..but it so early past vr. So much can change. We have to keep hope! I know it is easier said then done, but try not to cause too much extra stress on yourself right now. I wish I had the count you have. Remember that whole "snapshot" term about SA's. You are in my prayers.

Kirsten, I am sorry. But I second what Nancy said, the SA at any given time is just a snapshot at that moment. You have some sperm though, that is good! They could increase with time! Keep your chin up!

Your SA is similar to my DH's. I was actually very encouraged to be honest. I feel so happy that at least we have some sperm. Though it's probably a little easier as my DH and I do not have children together yet, so we are very open to DS or adopting. That's probably a little bit more difficult when you have children already. Focus on the fact that you have sperm, and it's still early since the VR. Our SA was at about 6 months...like others said it's just a snap shot. It will all work out!

What!?!?! Why would the DR say that??? I hate it when doctors tell people that one SA, especially the first after a VR, is the be-all-end-all. This is only your first one, and it's going to keep going up. Our first one was under 1mil total count, but it's come up quite a bit since then. Don't give up, your 1st SA is NOT going to be your forever numbers!

I know Leslie, that bothers me too. Your hubbies #'s can definitely still go up. Is he on any supplements, I can't remember you saying.

He is on Fertility Blend, though not taking it religiously. He is going to start taking religiously 2 pills in the morning and 2 at night. We are also going to fax the results to Dr. H and talk about maybe doing Clomid/prednisone, though that wont start till we know about my heart.
We are not going to just stop and I am going to continue temping, I feel like stopping that is like admitting defeat.

I agree, don't stop or give-up! I wish some doctors wouldn't be so FINAL! I have heard of some doctors calling a VR failed after just 6months, I think they should give it a full year. Our doctor said he won't consider it a fail til 1 year.

well this was my ob/gyn so I have to take that with a grain of salt and he has been proactive besides this. I talked with DH and he says I did not hear it all, he did say things could change but if they did not then it would be IVF. But the Dr said that no matter what God had it in his hands in regards to my heart. I was talking with a friend who works in healthcare and she told me my dr is a very strong Christian. I am ok with all this, just earlier was shocked and had not taken time to process

Kirsten - I agree with the ladies. You got an early SA, so don't give up hope! Alot of number don't go up until 4-7 months....alot of Dr's will say IVF because it's a money maker. Don't believe that IVF is your only hope, because it's not.

I emailed Dr. Hickman the SA results about an hr ago and he already got back to me!!. He feels that we are in an OK spot for this early on, that DH should continue the fertilaid and we retest in 3 months.
By then hopefully my heart issues will be dealt with and God gives us a miracle.
