We have it and love it, though you won't get the newer movies streamed. We watch movies/tv shows ALL weekend in the winter, so it has gotten a lot of use, and at $10 a month worth it.

We don't right now, but we used to have it for years, and we really liked it. We stopped using them because we had a couple movies that stayed at our house for over 2 months without getting watched. That was the wake up call that we were spending money on something we weren't even using. BUT, if you do use it, it's totally worth the money, and a great service.

We currently have it and it seems like a waste of $ to *me*, DH think otherwise. We have an awesome public library in Ames, where DH works that gets like every new release imaginable. He is pretty diligent about staying on top of the movie releases and often reserves then before they are out. We get to keep them for 7 days for free. The bad thing is that often it seems like they all come up at once for us and we end up trying to cram 4-5 movies in one weekend.
Does your local library have this?

Carrie, using the library is a brilliant idea. We do that a lot as well, and then if we really want to watch a movie that we can't get, or just can't get quickly, from there, then we'll go to one of the redboxes near us. It's only $1 a night for each movie, and we probably use that once a month.

I started using the library for movies last year as well. I sometimes had to wait several weeks to get the new releases, but it was well worth it. Our library is closed right now due to a renovation so I really miss the free movies. I've never used Netflix, but I had the account through Blockbuster to get the movies through the mail. We found that was a waste of money too because they would sit around forever before being watched and mailed back.

Our local library doesnt have alot of newer movies or seasons. This is the main reason why we like it. We can catch up on all the seasons we missed and still watch movies for the kids. We have a 30 day trial through DH's playstation 3 and I like it so far. It works like On Demand with Comcast worked.

We have Netflix and love it. However on real busy months we tend to sit on the same movie for the entire month! We do have instant streaming too and we do use that. I didn't know the library has new dvd's. I'll have to check it out!

we only do the streaming, which works for us, since we usually end up keeping movies WAY longer than we are supposed to

Nope, we use Redbox. Last year we cut ALOT of costs and Netflix was one of them.
We changed our cell plans, got rid of our home phone, got rid of Dish Network and only have basic cable. You know the crap that we REALLY don't need? We got rid of it all and don't miss it:-) The stuff we can live without saves us alot of money and I love it. We can travel more, buy FertilityBlend (ha ha) and not feel bad when we buy something that we both want.
I'm wanting a Nook/Kindle right now, but trying to research if buying books used is a better idea.

Tiff- Dh worked for barnes and noble tec support for the nook. You can get 1000 of free books (though some you would not want to read) and many of the books are cheaper than store bought/used.

oh and if anyone is thinking of a nook- Dh recommends NOT getting the color, it is back lite and hurts the eyes, he says in his opinion it is not worth the extra $$
