I'll start!
Our story starts back in 2006 when DH had a Vasectomy. We had been receiving a lot of cr*p from family, you know the 'he better get fixed' comments. I am so mad that we were influenced and went through with the V. DH and i were soooo fertile and now, well, have some serious fertility issues! I regretted the V almost right away but didn't say anything to DH, he went through enough so I just thought the feelings would go away. Well, they didn't. A couple of years past and i longed more and more to be pregnant one more time. About 2 yrs after the vasectomy I mentioned to my husband that we could have it reversed? He looked at me like i had 4 eyes lol! I kinda let it go and started to do some research online. I found several surgeons who did the VR regularly at a good price. I told DH about it. He said he would think about it!
Ever so often I would mention it again and we had some talks, I told him how i felt and the thought of not being able to have another baby together was breaking my heart! I ran across Dr. Wilson online and told DH about him and his low cost. DH agreed to have the VR with Dr. W!!! I was sooo excited! We had our phone interview with Dr. W, paid our deposit and made our appointment!
A couple of weeks later i ran into a lady online who lived not too far from us and she mentioned her husband had a VR done not too far from us (about 2 hrs) and it was covered as a military benefit. I was like waht?? lol! My dh is a veteran as well so I started talking to this lady and she told us what doctor they used etc...and was so helpful! Long story short, we got our VR set up with the same surgeon and it was 100% FREE!
My DH had his VR on June 14th 2010. The surgery went fine itself, the doctor (Dr. Weinstein out of Columbia MO University Hospital) came out to talk to me after the surgery and said there was no sperm at the time of surgery but when he cut back at the vas lots of clear healthy thin perfect fluid flowed through and he was VERY optimistic. He said there were no blockages. So DH healed fine and at 3 months post op DH went in for his first SA. The results came back ZERO! The dreaded miserable zero! I never saw that coming! We had scoped and never saw anything but I thought it had to do with out POS scope lol! Hubbies doctor said he has seen this before and not to be alarmed, it can take some time for the testes to wake up and full sperm production to begin again!
