Dean from Dr. R's office emailed me today (YAY!) and I was reading email to DH. He is wondering how the 2 hours sitting time will go being awake??
Any of your DH's have input on this?
Also, can he bring a book or Ipod or anything during his surgery time?

My DH didn't have anything. He just enjoyed the conversation with Dr. Roeder and the nurse. He actually said it helped him not to be as creeped out about the pulling sensations he had every now and then. Don't get me wrong, DH did not feel ANY pain, but mentioned the tugging was a very odd feeling. The chit chat allowed him to take his focus off that. Will you be there with DH?

I just stayed by his head and kept chatting with everyone (I'm very chatty and could talk to a wall if I needed to). My DH was actually in some pain. He has a very very high metabolism and his body uses an insane amount of pain medicine. Like even when he gets dental work done the Doc just has to keep giving him novacaine like every few mins..he just burns through it. I had to keep asking for medicine for him, so it kept me busy making sure he was numb, and between that we all just chatted. I chose to watch the whole surgery cuz I thought it was interesting so I kept letting DH know where we were in the process and that helped him stay calm that we were making progress. But it all worked out in the end and he said he would do it again if need be (if that tells you anything).

I stayed at my DH's head rubbing it and holding his hands. We all chatted and Dr. R had his IPOD going. He plays beautiful music. You won't need a book or anything. You will want to be fully engaged and the time goes by fast. You'll get to look at the fluid as well.
