Who else here is a sewer? I love sewing, and make everything from shirts to underwear to cloth diapers, and pretty much everything in between. I prefer to sew with knits, because wovens scare me for some reason, so that's what I normally stick too.
I'm also figuring out machine embroidering after acquiring an embroidery machine, with all the accessories I could ever need, for an AMAZING deal. I can't wait to start embroidering on cloth diapers and baby/kids outfits.

Leslie (or anyone else) would you be able to help me figure this skirt out. I want to change it from a straight skirt to a A-line so that I feel like I can move in it. I bought some silky type fabric 1.5 yrds and it is 52" wide. I am thinking of 4 tiers of 4-5" ruffles (I want it to be about at my knee). I am using a pair of ripped jeans for the top part. amandabethonline.blogspot.com/2010/04/diy-fashionista-denim-and-ruffle-skirt.html

It looks like it would be pretty easy. Just make that main piece of fabric, that you're going to sew the ruffles onto, A-line instead of straight down. The only difference it'll make is #1 giving it more flare out (aka more room to move lol), and #2 the length of the ruffles that you'll sew on will have to be a bit longer with each tier.

yeah i figured the tiers would need to be longer, just not sure how to make a A-line lol. straight is a lot easier.

I always wanted to learn how to sew, but never learned. Now I am just too busy. I am so pathetic that DH had to take ds's boy scout shirt to a seamstress to have his patches sewn on today:( Oh well. I can't do everything, right? I would like to make my own window treatments and those diapers...maybe one day I'll take some time to figure it out. I guess I would need a sewing machine first, lol!
