We have not had our SA yet. It has only been three weeks since the VR. I was just wondering what the average price is for an SA? Thanks!

Ours have always been covered 100% by insurance, but I think I remember a lot of ladies saying it was around $100. Hopefully someone who's had to pay for one out-of-pocket will chime in with their cost.

Our first one was included in the price of the VR, BUT we had to go back to where we had the VR which was 2 hrs away. DH did his first SA there for free but this time we are not doing that kind of drive again just for a SA. We found a place around here for $75, but that is the cheapest we have found. The average was $150! We are in St. Louis. Hopefully others will chime in too!

Ours was about $75. None of it is covered by insurance, so luckily it isn't more expensive. I know some people pay a lot more too.

With our first one we thought we had found the deal of the century at $48. And it was too good to be true. lol. They only checked if sperm was present (not how much).
The second one was done in an RE office and was $250. We are around Chicago. And our insurance did not cover it.

Ours is covered by insurance (we have not had it yet), but if we didn't have insurance, around $200 at an RE office. We won't have it at any other place.
GL!

Ok dumb question but how do you find out if your insurance pays for it?

Call the Lab to find out their policies and want is covered. For the lab near us (that is part of a andrology cryobank) we had to have a prescription (referral) from a dr associated with them (my OB/GYN). The cost of the SA was $100.
As a warning often times the rooms they stick you in are not great, so be prepared to laugh and be a little uncomfortable.

Our coverage is located online thru our insurance. It lists EVERYTHING that is covered:-)
