We bought the TRU (Toys R Us) $25 cheapie scope about 6 months ago. We used it before DH's first SA, 5 months ago. Could never see anything really. Not sure if it is just me or what I am doing wrong. I see a lot of debris but it is so blurry. Has anyone had any luck using it, any suggestions. What # did you use (400, 600, 900?)

I keep scoping and blinding myself with it! I thought I saw something moving but it also could have been my eyelashes. I get so close to the scope it's like I am trying to GET IN IT to find the little guys. Haha! I am thinking about getting a different scope. I hear the scopes at Hobby Lobby are good. If I can find a coupon that would be even better. I will probably TRY to scope again tonight with my TRU scope. I will let you know if I through it out the window! Haha!
How often do you scope?

I also have the TRU scope and do not have any luck with it....granted we don't have many to see. I have a friend in the lab and she almost died when I showed her what I was trying to scope with. I use the front instead of the eyepiece (that blinds me), but still haven't had any luck.

NO! How people get these things to work is just beyond me. That stupid light is just so bright it hurts my eyes. I ended up cleaning the whole thing up really good with bleach and giving it to my step kids to play with. It does NOTHING as far as I'm concerned. The videos I've seen online where you can see sperm clearly have a very dim light, and the light on the TRU is just painful.

Mandy lol, I did the same think with my eyelashes and of course felt blinded after I used it too! I only scoped before our first SA, so months 1,2, and 3. I couldn't see anything but debris and black hollow circles, I have no idea what they were. Our first SA did come back none seen, but it has been 4 more months again and I want to scope again but know the TRU one is just going to frustrate me!
I found some good ones on Amazon but haven't broke down and bought one yet!

Mandy Hobby Lobby had a coupon to print off for 40% off any one item the other day on their website.

... I couldn't see anything but debris and black hollow circles, I have no idea what they were. I know nothing about the device you are using, but I believe the hollow circles, are some sort of lens/retina reflection due to the intense light being directed into you eye--this happens with lower quality microscopes. I am a bit of a science nerd...no, actually I remember a teacher telling us that in a lab where we were stuck using the lower quality microscopes, instead of the good ones. Again, i have never seen the "scope," but if you are seeing debris it sounds like you are focusing past your target, but if the light is that bright you probably just can't "see" your target because of the excessive illumination. Is the light angle adjustable, so you could direct it off center so it doesn't go directly in your eye? Not very helpful, but perhaps an explanation. If i stated the obvious and am invoking an , I apologize! I am excited to try this scoping thing out down the road (down girl, down science nerd, down...) DH hubby cringes at the idea (insert wicked mad scientist laugh here, heh-he-he-heah!).

This is stuff in the semen I am pretty sure. Other people have told me they can see the same things with other scopes and were told they were white blood cells, so not real sure but thanks for the input

I guess we were talking about different things--oops! I did look at some "samples" on youtube and there were larger rings/circles, I bet the wbc thing is correct because they are larger than sperm cells. I thought the not being able to see anything was a focus/instrument quality issue--sorry! Just curious do you put slip covers over the sample?

I've never tried the Toys R Us scope, but that is because we have a nice one that we bought for DS's biology class. It works great, lol!
