Woohoo felt so good to work out again today. I just got done and feel so better after doing so! I haven't worked out in months and i used to do so 5x's a week! So far today I have ate nothing bad and burned 200 cals, yay Now I have to keep it up lol! Back when I lost 38 lbs back in 2009 I did my stepper 150 cals burned in the morning and stepper 150 cals burned in evening = 300 cals burned day and watched what I ate and lost that way so I know what to do, now to keep on track! Oh yeah and I have a Polar Heart Rate monitor i use when i workout so that's how i know what I burn LOVE IT TOO! Does anyone else workout?

Jennifer, I read on the sub board that you only lose by working out--you are not alone! That is the only thing that works for me. I need to find an HR monitor that works with my Mac! I almost bought a Polar but the software is not compatible with Apple products--I was bummed. The rumor was that they were going to change it so maybe I should check it out again, that was over 6 months ago.
I just spent 4 hours lifting and carrying heavy boxes and running up and down flights of stairs so I am counting that as my workout today!
I need to get my butt to Anytime Fitness on a regular basis. We are getting a Y membership this week for the family so I hope to take advantage of Child Watch.
I have treadmill in my bedroom so I really have no excuse to not workout, if I could only get up and do 30-45 minutes before work every day...

carrie, I would count that as a workout too! I worked out for at least 1 hr yesterday and today so hope my weigh in Friday shows it Oh and about the Polar HRM, I couldn't workout without it, it motivates me SO MUCH to see exactly how many calories I am burning!

I'd like to join you ladies here. I started running again a few weeks ago, but am still trying to get back to running 12-15 miles/week. I was always pretty thin (118-125 at 5'7") until I had back surgery a few years ago. Being over 30 doesn't help, either, but mainly I just need to get back to watching what I eat and exercising regularly. I have lost 10lbs since the beginning of January by eliminating sugar, leavened breads, dairy (well, I cheat on that now that my fast is over), and caffeine. I also eliminated meat for 3 weeks (during the fast) and only have it a couple days a week now. I only eat turkey, chicken and fish anyway (I have a food sensitivity or allergy, if you will, to beef and pork). I'd like to lose 15 more lbs, but know that won't happen if I get pg this cycle. If I can just not gain my normal 50lbs with the next pregnacy, I'll be happy. I'm thinking because I'm starting out heavier this time around that that won't happen.

Oh, Jen I burn about 350 calories running. Did you do that 5x a day to lose 38lbs? Did you count calories? I've never had so much weight to lose except after pregnancies and that always just melted off by nursing and my normal workout routine at the time. I expect it will be more difficult to lose pg weight now that I am older.

Oh my!!! I am so sore! We had a teacher vs. 8th grade student volleyball match-up for CSW. I was using muscles I forgot I had, still have the skills, just lacking in the vertical! Yikes! If I can move tomorrow it will be amazing.
It was so much fun never knew a gym could be THAT loud! My ears were buzzing for an hour afterward. I so miss playing VB and may consider putting together a school team for fun.
We technically tied because we could not play 3 matches to complete the game! If I could exercise like this everyday I would be super fit in no time and I would LOVE it!

Oh and Shel, yes I was counting calories too! I still do when I work out. I was eating about 1200-1500 cals/day, for me that's good, I know everyone differs because of height and body build/frame.... But I am 5'2" and honestly 1200 calories was perfect for me to loose weight. they do say to never go below 1200 cals/day though.

I've started working out again with my dh and dd. We have been going to the gym every night. I've only been doing 45 min to an hour of cardio a night. I have to wait for the doctor to give me the okay from my shoulder surgery before I can start the circuit training. I am so glad that dh finally got on board and is helping out with the weight loss and exercise.

Cindy, that's great that DH is being so supportive! I really think having him be there to encourage you will make a HUGE difference.
We finally got our elliptical in today, and....I'm not so sure what I think of it. I probably just need to get used to it. It's really nice and is super smooth, but the peddles are angled (to help with joint alignment) and it makes me feel like I'm falling forward slightly. The place where we bought it has an awesome return policy, so I'm going to give it at least two weeks, but if I still can't get comfortable on it, I'm going to have to exchange it for another one.

Leslie--not sure but you may need to put a little more bend in your knees. There are a few I have tried that give me that same feeling but I believe it is because it is intended for you to kind of stick your butt out a little to balance. Plus this puts more umph into your glut and hams workout. If you stick with it for 2 weeks you should get used to it, and maybe even more used to the lift in your bottom. Usually that is the first place it see an improvement when consistently working out on an elliptical. Good luck! Have to admit I envy you with that elliptical!

Carrie, good tip! I'll have to get on it again and make sure I don't have stiff, straight, legs.

ur welcome!
If your feet/toes start feeling feel numb or tingly you need to press more into your heel if that makes sense, because you are inadvertently pinching nerves in you feet (kind of like wearing high heels for an extended period of time).
