Ooh, good advice Carrie. I also recently purchased an elliptical and sometimes get that tingly feeling. I thought maybe my shoes were too tight, lol.

It could be your shoes too, but most people naturally push with the balls and toes of their feet and the constance pressure and motion does it. If your shoes are tied too snuggly it will probably start sooner, plus feet can swell with exercise.

I just did my first full workout on the elliptical, and it went really well. It's soooo smooth, and the "falling forward" feeling passed pretty quickly. I took your advice, Carrie, and really concentrated on my posture. I think I figured out part of the problem, and it's partly me and partly the machine itself. There're 2 sets of bars you can hold onto, one that moves and one that's stationary, and the ones that move are just a bit too far away for my short little arms. So I have to have my feet at the very end of the peddles to get rid of that feeling, or else just use the stationary bars. Either way, I really like this machine, and I got an excellent workout this morning.

Good! Ellipticals are so "joint" friendly and you get such an awesome burn! Maybe when you get more comfortable you will be able to use the bars--it really boosts the burn (and the cardio!)

How's everyone been doing with their workouts? I am not doing much of anything! I have got to get back on track!

I'm not doing well, so hard to get back on track. I get back on for a week and then life happens and it all goes off track again. I have to do better next week!

I've been doing great on the exercising, it's the diet that's been my downfall the last week. It been better for the last 2 days now, and I just need to keep it that way.

I've been doing pretty well. I am running 12-15 miles per week now. I broke my vegan diet tonight since DH treated me to some fine dining. It has been SO long since I've had sushi so I just couldn't resist! I will get back on track tomorrow ;0)

Shel, are you vegan?? I gave up meat about 5 months ago, and haven't missed it at all (to be totally honest, we have had salmon twice now, but it's our fresh caught, wild, Alaskan salmon). I'm trying to eat as close to a high raw vegan diet as I can, but I just can't seem to give up cheese. I've cut WAY back on how much I eat at least, but I just can't give it up yet.

I'm trying, Leslie. I gave up cheese easily (though I love it) because the benefits of doing so were almost immediate. I miss ice cream though I haven't eaten mammals for 19 years now so giving up meat was a not an issue. I've only been doing this since the first of the year. I try to do as much raw as possible, but there are some things I just can't eat unless it's cooked (like legumes among other things). Do you have any raw energy bar recipes by chance? I am trying to figure out how to make them. I make my own granola and granola bars using brown rice syrup and honey, but that is far too gooey to use for raw bars. Any suggestions?

I don't have a raw one, but I do have a really good recipe for a cooked one. I'll post it in a few minutes when I find it. For the cheese dependency that I have, I think I'm going to try and reduce my cheese intake to only 2 times a week. That way I don't feel deprived, but I would be seriously cutting back to a much healthier amount. Then when I'm used to that it'll probably easier to slowly cut it out all together.

Shel, here's the recipe that I like to use.
1 cup of each of the following: honey peanut butter chopped pecans coconut shreds (raw, not toasted) raw sunflower seds raisins
Heat honey and peanut butter in small pan over medium heat until melted together and smooth. Mix with all other ingredients, and press into a 9x13 pan. Bake @350 for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
You don't even have to oil the pan that you cook these in, because the natural oils in the peanut butter prevent them from sticking.

Leslie...that sounds good. I am not the heathiest eater. I just made a batch of homemade granola....a little high in calories, but still healthy and fills me up.

Thanks Leslie. I just bought some dried strawberry rhubard chunks from whole foods and I am dying to make some granola with it. I don't think it will work with peanut butter, though.
I had a really rough run this morning. I am SO sore from pushing it lately, but don't want to take time off. I'm thinking I'll soak in the tub tonight, run tomorrow am and then take Thursday off. It is supposed to be a little warmer this weekend so I might venture outdoors for my first long run in what seems like forever. We'll have to see. I am very cold adverse. The cold bothers me to the point where I can feel it in my bones, if that makes sense. So, I don't run outdoors unless it is at least 60 degrees out. I need spring to get here quickly because the dreadmill is really annoying.
